Mike Peters

DIRECTOR OF INVESTIGATIONS

Mike Peters brings almost thirty years of investigative experience in both the private and public sectors to assist clients in understanding risks and making informed decisions.

Mike has assisted publicly-owned and privately-held clients in investigations of employee embezzlement, misappropriation of proprietary information, misuse of company assets, expense reporting fraud, and violations of compliance standards. Mike has also conducted a wide range of due diligence investigations and provided a variety of investigative support in litigation matters.

Mike served as a Special Agent with the FBI in Chicago for twenty-eight years. Mike investigated a broad variety of sophisticated criminal allegations with a particular focus on major business related frauds and public corruption. The significant cases which Mike investigated include bank fraud, embezzlement, investment fraud, real estate fraud, government procurement fraud, insurance fraud, bankruptcy fraud, money laundering, health care fraud, and other white-collar offenses. Mike received many commendations in recognition of his accomplishments with the FBI. As a Special Agent with the FBI, Mike was appointed as investigator to the independent counsel tasked with conducting an investigation of allegation of wrongdoing within the U.S. Department of Justice.

After his outstanding career at the FBI, Mike brought his experience to the Investigations Group of PriceWaterhouseCoopers. As a Director of this group, Mike oversaw investigations of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, internal and external theft, regulatory compliance, and comprehensive background matters. While at PWC, Mike gave formal instruction and conducted seminars regarding fraud to internal auditors and investigators and to various companies, charitable institutions and government agencies. Mike has taught courses to forensic accounting graduate students at Loyola University.

Mike graduated magna cum laude with a degree in accounting from the University of Missouri. Mike also served six years in the United States Army obtaining the rank of Captain with several tours of combat duty.
